"Embrace Challenges and Take the Leap"

George Sohlon, who values action, is not the founder of Adesso. He was born in Yangmei, Taoyuan, and completed his education in electronic engineering at Mingxin Technical College in Taiwan. He then joined Wang On Computers as an information processor and later moved to Qtronix, where he provided technical support services to clients. In 1993, he was assigned to Germany as a product manager, and two years later, he transferred to the US subsidiary and took on the role of general manager. Over the past decade, he has traveled extensively across Europe, North America, and Asia, accumulating solid industry experience, professional skills, and a vast network.

In 2002, George Sohlon learned by chance that the brand company "ADESSO," a major player in the keyboard and mouse market channels founded in California, USA, in 1994, was available for resale. ADESSO's primary customer at that time was Ingram Micro, one of the largest computer and consumer electronics channel distributors in the United States and globally. At the age of 32, he decided to invest all his accumulated funds from his previous work and officially took over ADESSO. When he acquired ADESSO, the company had only five employees. Due to limited initial funding, he focused on computer peripherals that were "low in cost, high in profit, resistant to market fluctuations, and not overly complicated." He strategically avoided the highly competitive market and shifted towards industrial products. During the rise of manufacturing in China, George Sohlon went to China alone and developed new products with better quality and lower costs. Within a few years, the product line expanded to include headsets, speakers, graphic tablets, scanners, and webcams, and the annual revenue doubled from $2 million to $20 million. Today, ADESSO offers more than 300 products and serves customers such as Ingram Micro, Synnex, and Tech Data, the world's top three channel distributors. In 2020, ADESSO achieved annual revenues of 1.6 billion New Taiwan Dollars, becoming a rare success story among Taiwanese entrepreneurs.。

Customer-Centric, Five-Star Service Spirit, Building a Global Brand

In the face of intense competition in the global market, ADESSO fully embraces a "customer-centric" attitude and has condensed its "same-day shipping, free technical support, manufacturer's warranty, price protection, and satisfaction guarantee" five-star service strategy from past customer service experiences. The commitment to same-day shipping requires a well-established warehouse and logistics system. George Sohlon emphasizes, "To truly build a brand, you must implement this five-star service spirit. Building a brand is not like playing basketball, where you score as soon as the product is sold. It's more like a baseball game, where you have to serve every base, from the first distributor to the second distributor, all the way to the end user, to have a chance to score."

ADESSO Culture

Connecting Vision with the Future World

Currently, ADESSO has established research and development centers and production supply chains in China and Taiwan. Its operations have expanded beyond the United States to include Canada, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. In terms of new business development, ADESSO focuses on "image" as its core, developing remote video conferencing equipment, investing in security monitoring products, home IoT devices, and cloud software services, moving towards "diverse integration" in channels. The product line follows a strategy of "virtual and real integration," while the market is served through a combination of Taiwan and overseas efforts.

Facing fierce competition in the global market and unpredictable changes in the environment, entrepreneurs like George Sohlon need to withstand tremendous pressure to maintain high growth and profitability. He straightforwardly states, "I don't know stress; all I know is that you have to work hard to get things done!" Reflecting on his two-decade entrepreneurial journey, he emphasizes the importance of pragmatism.

Establishing a Foundation, Promoting Education, Health, and Environmental Protection

During the first half of his life, focused on his career, George Sohlon experienced a health scare while on a business trip to China two years ago, which seemed to be a facial nerve disorder resembling a stroke. During his hospital stay, he had a profound realization: If you were to reach the end of your life tomorrow, what unfinished wishes would you have?

"Life should not only be about making money!" After recovering, George Sohlon immediately established the "Adesso Nonprofit Foundation" in 2020. The foundation actively promotes the values of safeguarding health, education, and environmental protection. In addition to providing scholarships, during the global pandemic in 2020, Adesso also donated hundreds of thousands of masks to nearby schools, police, and medical units, fulfilling the social responsibility of a corporate entity.

Taiwan as the Center, Expanding the Global Brand

Recently, George Sohlon returned to Taiwan to participate in the "44th Republic of China, 30th Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship Model and Entrepreneurship Mutual Assistance Award Ceremony" organized by the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association. He was commended by President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Su Tseng-chang. He also shared his experiences in innovation and entrepreneurship with other awardees and discussed global economic trends and foreign investment environments.

With the decentralized cloud management, George Sohlon's dream of returning to his homeland has an opportunity to come true. He revealed that he is currently recruiting talents in Taiwan and developing and manufacturing remote video conferencing equipment, AI security monitoring products, home IoT devices, and cloud service software. The goal is to go public in Taiwan. During this visit to Taiwan, apart from sharing the five-star service brand strategy selflessly, he also aims to give back by sharing insights into channel distribution, networking, funding, and operational management strategies with Taiwanese entrepreneurs interested in expanding their international market presence. With a global perspective, he hopes to inject new vitality into the country's development and accelerate the expansion of the global market.
