Allen Ku Returns to School to Attend the "Outstanding Alumni Awards Ceremony for the 111th Academic Year"

The "Outstanding Alumni Awards Ceremony for the 111th Academic Year" was held on the morning of December 2nd at the Harvard Lecture Hall on campus, honoring two distinguished alumni: Mr. Lin-Chieh Chen, Chairman of AMIDA Technology, and Mr. Allen Ku, Chairman of ADESSO Technology in the United States. The awards were presented by President Kuo-Wei Liu to recognize their outstanding contributions to business, service, and society. Through alumni sharing their life experiences, they also imparted their success stories to younger students. After the awards ceremony, the two distinguished alumni took a stroll around the campus, reminiscing about their past academic days and sharing warm moments with their former teachers, creating precious memories.

President Kuo-Wei Liu stated that since its establishment in 1966, the university has reached a significant milestone this year with the approval of the Ministry of Education for the establishment of a doctoral program in semiconductor technology. This marks 56 years of dedicated education and a commitment to excellence, reflecting the shining success and growth of alumni in various fields. These two outstanding alumni, who graduated from the Department of Electronics at different times, happen to be prominent figures in the technology industry, embodying the spirit of the university's motto: "Perseverance, Innovation, and Creation." They have used their expertise in technology research and development, business management, and industry investment to give back to society. President Liu also expressed gratitude to the two alumni for their support and contributions to their alma mater, serving as role models for younger students and driving the school's progress and development.

Alumnus Lin-Chieh Chen founded AMIDA Technology in 2002, specializing in the development of semiconductor testing instruments and system technology. With extensive experience and expertise in instrument and system design, the company successfully went public in April of this year. Chairman Chen, drawing from his own experiences in education and entrepreneurship, advised young students to "keep learning," "expand their networks," and "seize good opportunities."

Alumnus Allen Ku, who started his entrepreneurial journey in the United States and was awarded the 30th Overseas Chinese Entrepreneur Model in 2021 and the 2022 Outstanding Asian American Engineer Award, mentioned that after achieving success in his career and recovering from a serious illness, he realized his social responsibility. Consequently, he established a foundation dedicated to issues related to education, environmental protection, and social safety. He encouraged younger students to make the most of their time and continue self-improvement, regardless of their academic performance in school.

Both alumni are committed to nurturing technical talents and made donations for scholarships and teaching equipment during the awards ceremony. Alumnus Allen Ku, grateful for the guidance he received during his vocational education, has pledged to donate one million New Taiwan Dollars annually for ten years, starting in 2021, to support the "Talent Development Scholarship." Lin-Chieh Chen, on the other hand, places great importance on the development of semiconductor industry talent and has donated over three million New Taiwan Dollars worth of AMIDA3000 semiconductor testing equipment for educational purposes. He also provides scholarships to students facing financial difficulties, ensuring that younger students can pursue their studies with peace of mind.
