[Executive Yuan News Office] Premier Su: Government Promotes Various Incentives and Subsidies to Encourage Domestic Business Startups and Innovation

Premier Su Tseng-chang attended the "44th Republic of China Entrepreneurship Model Awards and the 30th Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship and Mutual Aid Awards" ceremony on December 2. He expressed sincere congratulations and recognition to the 42 winners and their representatives. In his address, the Premier acknowledged that entrepreneurship is known to be challenging, and achieving success in entrepreneurship is even more demanding. He emphasized that the government has promoted various policies and methods to encourage and support domestic business startups and innovation. Following the principles of "favorable, simple, and swift," the government provides financing and loans to new entrepreneurs, aiming to encourage talents to gather, stimulate each other, and enhance Taiwan's strength.

Premier Su stated that he had come to express his respect, congratulations, and encouragement to all the winners today. He also thanked the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association of the Republic of China, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council for jointly organizing this award ceremony. The Premier pointed out that entrepreneurship is known to be challenging, and achieving success in entrepreneurship is even more demanding. Therefore, the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association holds this annual event to encourage ambitious individuals with abilities and ideals to venture into entrepreneurship, accept challenges, and share the success stories and hard work of these outstanding entrepreneurs. It also recognizes those who assist entrepreneurship models, hoping to encourage newcomers to continue their efforts and make Taiwan stronger and more beautiful.

The Premier mentioned that the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association is the oldest and largest counseling organization for entrepreneurship in Taiwan. It has consistently provided the best encouragement to entrepreneurs, aligning with the government's industrial development policies. Chairman Chen Ching-kang of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association received the Entrepreneurship Model Award 20 years ago and has continued to be responsible for the work of "assisting entrepreneurship" based on his successful experience, which is not easy. The Premier emphasized that although Taiwan is not large in size and has a small population, it occupies a place in the world because of our talented people and continuous efforts.

Regarding Taiwan's epidemic prevention achievements, Premier Su pointed out that globally, more than 260 million people have been confirmed with COVID-19, with over 5.2 million deaths. The threat of the Omicron variant has led to a resurgence of the international epidemic, making the situation even more severe. Even Japan recently announced sudden lockdown measures. Premier Su said that when the global epidemic was severe, Taiwan had the correct government epidemic prevention measures in place, and under the cooperation of the people, the epidemic has been effectively controlled. Taiwan has become a happy place, and today's grand event, held in physical form, is not easy and demonstrates the results of everyone's joint efforts.

Premier Su further pointed out that Taiwan's epidemic prevention results have received worldwide acclaim. While economies around the world have suffered severe declines due to the epidemic, Taiwan has been able to grow against the tide. With the government's guidance, Taiwan's economic growth rate has reached its highest level in 11 years. He expressed his gratitude to all sectors of society and businesses for their efforts, which have contributed to such excellent results.

Premier Su emphasized that to encourage domestic business startups and innovation, the government has promoted various policies and provided incentives through various methods. Whether it is subsidies for businesses affected by the epidemic or loans and financing for new creative industries without financial resources and qualifications, the government follows the principles of "favorable, simple, and swift" and provides interest subsidies. To date, the government has processed over hundreds of billions of Taiwan dollars, aiming to encourage the development of domestic startups. Additionally, the government actively establishes startup industry clusters. Premier Su mentioned that since he took office in 2019, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the Linkou Innovation Park in October of the same year. On December 6 of this year, he will also attend the opening ceremony of the Yawan Innovation Park in Kaohsiung. Furthermore, to encourage talents from around the world to work in Taiwan, the government has issued over 3,300 Employment Gold Cards. All of these measures are intended to encourage talents from all sectors to gather, stimulate each other, and enhance Taiwan's strength.

Finally, Premier Su emphasized that today, in addition to expressing congratulations and recognition to all the winners, he also wants to convey the government's strong support for enterprises. Through today's recognition event, he hopes to set an example and inspire others to learn and emulate.

After concluding his speech, Premier Su personally presented the Entrepreneurship Model Award and the Entrepreneurship Mutual Aid Award to the 42 winners and their representatives, recognizing their outstanding performance. As some of the winners were unable to return to Taiwan to receive their awards in person, they appeared on a large screen via video, and the Premier waved to them. Subsequently, the Premier took a group photo with all the winners, creating a warm and memorable moment.
