[Economic Daily News] 21 Entrepreneurs Named as Models of Entrepreneurship

The National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association held the "44th Republic of China Entrepreneurship Model Awards and the 30th Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurship and Mutual Aid Awards" ceremony at the Grand Hotel Taipei on December 2. Despite the global economy still recovering from the pandemic, there was enthusiastic participation in the domestic and overseas nominations, resulting in a record number of overseas candidates and winners. In the end, 11 domestic and ten overseas entrepreneurs were selected as models of entrepreneurship.

Chen Ching-kang, Chairman of the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association, stated that the entrepreneurship models come from various fields, including Taiwan, which ranks first in Asia and plays a significant role globally, making a substantial contribution to Taiwan's economy. Many successful enterprises also give back to society, ranking high in the corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) responsibility ratings. Many of these models hope to make a positive impact on Taiwan.

Premier Su Tseng-chang, who attended the award ceremony, expressed that entrepreneurship is not easy, and achieving success in entrepreneurship is even more challenging. There are undoubtedly many aspects in the process worth recognizing and learning from. Therefore, the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Association holds this annual recognition event to commend outstanding individuals, both those who have succeeded and those who have supported others. The aim is to make Taiwan stronger and more beautiful.

The 21 entrepreneurs named as entrepreneurship models this year are: Advantech, a global pioneer in telecom white boxes; SunLik, an innovative Taiwanese agricultural and food enterprise; COMEBUY, a leading domestic chain of tea beverage brands; King Yuan Fu, the largest plastic vacuum forming container manufacturer in Asia; Show Chwan Health System, the most renowned private healthcare system in Taiwan; Kuo Wei Precision, the world's largest knife manufacturer; and Yung Shin, Taiwan's largest animal pharmaceutical company.

Additionally, entrepreneurs from the United States, such as Kizuki Ramen, the third-largest computer peripheral equipment manufacturer Adesso, and the well-known furniture retailer Ethan Allen; from Vietnam, including Buildmax Industrial and Kim Bien; from Thailand, such as Thai President Holdings and Liang Yu Industrial Gas; from Malaysia, including Tiong Hwa and SJ Group; and from Japan, including Toho Trading, all represent significant enterprises in various global industries.

President Tsai Ing-wen, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Chen Cheng-chi, Chairman of the Overseas Community Affairs Council Tong Chen-yuan, and Vice Chairman of the National Development Council Gao Xian-gui met with all the award winners before the awards ceremony. They exchanged views with entrepreneurs on entrepreneurship, innovation, economic development, and foreign trade policies, seeking the best ways and solutions for win-win cooperation between the government and businesses.
